Game Review: Aquascapers

Aquascapers officially launched 3 months ago on May 2nd, 2024. I first played the game on May 13th, which was only 11 days after release. I was immediately blown away with just how in-depth the game was.

In this post, we’re going to be doing a deep dive into the full game and mechanics of Aquascapers. As always, tap the photo to see the full video review!

Aquascapers is described as “Bring Nature Home! Experience Aquascapers, a single-player and co-op aquascaping simulation that invites you and friends to discover and gather various ornamental resources for your aquascaping projects. Enhance your business and dominate the market!”

The game has received many positive reviews from players, however many players suggest that the game lacks content. Aquascapers opened its early access on July 25th, 2023 and was immediately available to all players. My viewpoint is much different considering I first played the game after its full release. Let’s now jump into my experience!

As soon as I opened Aquascapers I was immediately surprised by the graphical quality of the game. When first playing I was mistakenly under the impression that the game was still in early access therefore I was a bit more lenient when critiquing it. I was pleasantly surprised by the game and attention to detail by the developers. Many of the items you can forage in the game go by their scientific name which allows for players to subconsciously learn while playing. The different systems in the game such as the foraging, designing and auctioning are pretty in-depth and provide the player with a lot of different options.

Although I did thoroughly enjoy the game I do agree with many of the other players’ complaints on the lack of total content. While the game does provide depth in its systems, there are very limited places to use these systems. Moving forward I think that the developers need to continue their work and add new things such as more items, locations and expand on the players “home” a bit more. Other than that the developers do have a very solid foundation and will hopefully continue their work on the game.
